How Technorati Can Help You With Your Blogging

technoratiTechnorati can help you with your blogging when you know how to properly use their site.

Unfortunately, many visitors do not.

Technorati is a huge blog directory and ranking-tool that can be an extremely useful place to visit if you know what to do when you get there.

Technorati can help you with your blogging
by improving your blogs “authority”.

Technorati rates blogs on authority generally and within particular categories.  The higher the number, the better your blog’s ranking.

Like Google, Technorati ranking is determined by linking behavior, categorization, and other obscure data that is updated on a regular basis over a relatively short period of time.

If your blog gets into the top 100 ranked blogs on Technorati’s Top 100 page; you can be assured of a boost in overall traffic, credibility and profits if you run any advertising.

  • To get started go to the Technorati site, sign up and complete your users profile.

For the most visibility and a chance of getting your blog recognized as a “featured blog”, make sure that you fill in all the blanks accurately.

Next, at the bottom of your profile page you can “claim your blog” by putting your blog’s URL in the “Claim your Blog” box and following the directions that they give you.

This process legitimizes your blog and officially adds it to the Technorati directory.

It takes awhile for their system to recognize your blog, but once it is listed in the Technorati directory, more back-links to your site will be generated and your visibility with the search engines will improve dramatically.

  • For this to happen, it is important that you correctly identify the categories and tags that you attach to your site.

Every time you create a new blog post, make sure that you include Technorati specific tags and attach them to your post.

This increases the chances that your post will show up on Technorati and in the search engines.

  • It’s also important to Ping Technorati when you publish your blog entry.

If you are uising WordPress as your blogging platform, it should automatically ping Technorati along with other directories.

Check it by opening the “writing” settings page and scrolling to the bottom at “Update Services”.

If http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping is listed, WordPress automatically pings Technorati.

If you are using another blogging platform like Blogger, make sure that you ping your posts using a service like Ping-O-Matic, Pingoat or AutoPinger.

Technorati can help you with your blogging even if you currently have no blog set up.

  • By reading their Blogging Channel, you can pick up useful tidbits of information from users who publish blog posts about blogging.
  • Technorati can help you with your blogging and provide you an insight into what your competitors are doing if you use Technorati’s search feature to browse their directory.

Searching their directory by category or by tags can give you a feel of what public opinion is on any given topic.

It can also help you with research and to find people who share common goals that you can network with or market your products to.

The search feature can also be used to find relevant blogs that you can comment on to spread your message, improve your blog’s visibility or to solidify your expertise and credibility in your niche market.

When commenting, make sure to add your website link to your comment whenever possible.

  • Technorati can help you with your blogging when you use their keyword search or tag directory to identify what people are saying about your business blog.

Like Google, put your blog name (or anything else) in quotes to see who is talking about you.   These are the blogs you need to take note of and comment on to create a “buzz” about your site.

Although many people don’t believe that it is as influential as it once was, Technorati can help you with your blogging if you use it as a research tool to gather information, build credibility and improve your blog’s position in the SERPs.

How To Tell If Your Niche Is Profitable

micronichefinder

Before you run off and create a product and a website to sell it on, you first need to know how to tell if your niche is profitable or not.

In order to make the most amount of money with the least amount of effort,  you must be pretty certain that your niche will be profitable before you start.

Although there are no guarantees, you can be as certain as possible that you will be in a highly profitable niche market if you follow these suggestions.

  • The first thing you need, is a good keyword research tool

Doing a Google web search will produce many tools that will fit the bill.

Some like Google’s AdWord keyword tool are free to use if you have an AdWords account.

Other keyword research tools such as Micro niche finder or Market samurai, charge a nominal fee but provide researchers with more information.

Many of the other keyword tools online are either free for the asking or have a free trial period for limited usage.

Whichever keyword research tool  you decide to use should provide you with all the information you need to determine if your niche is profitable or not.

  • What you should be looking for and where you want to focus, is a niche market that has a total of at least 50,000 keyword searches and a Pay Per Click (PPC) bid of at least $2.00.

Keywords that people are bidding at least $2.00 on and that have a total amount of at least 50,000 searches, have a high probability of being a successful niche for you to pursue.

Note that the TOTAL number of keywords should be at least 50,000 searches,  not a single keyword.

This means that if you select a keyword such as “Blog Marketing” and the first
keyword had 36,893 searches, the second keyword had 8,547 searches, the next one had 7,940 searches;  you already know that you’ve met the 50,000 threshold and are probably in a good and profitable niche.

  • When you research a niche that has more than 250,000 combined total searches for your keyword, it’s probably a good idea NOT to get into that niche market.

The high number of searches immediately show you that the niche has way too much competition.

Unless you have the knowledge and Internet marketing experience to dominate the niche market, you would probably be better served finding a less competitive one.

  • People often make the mistake of using their emotions when choosing a profitable niche. Don’t do it!

Unless you are already an experienced Internet marketer, you will find yourself wasting a great deal of your time, your money,  and ultimately your sanity pursuing a niche market that is already saturated with experienced marketers.

Once you learn how to tell if your niche is profitable, you can use the information from your keyword research to optimize your website or blog, so you can sell your products more effectively and generate more traffic for your business.

Although this is a great way to pick niches to sell products you create from PLR products; it can be used with just about any other product you might want to sell.

Now that you know how to tell if your niche is profitable; get your domain registered, set up your website and start earning some money!
