Five Time Management Tips To Get More Accomplished
Posted Under: Home Based Internet Business
Here are five time management tips that will help you get more accomplished in a shorter amount of time.
Some are no brainers, but how quickly we sometimes forget the obvious!
- Make A Written List
A time management tip, that I occasionally forget to do myself, is to make a written list of what needs to be done and when.
When you have ten things on your mind that must be done, and then get interrupted, or remember something else you must do; it pays to organize your tasks ON PAPER, so you can tic them off as you perform each task.
Not only does it increase your capacity to get things done, in order; it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you finish scratching off everything on your written list.
- Avoid The Possibility Of Interruption.
Put your cell phone on mute, leave your office phone on voice mail, turn off the radio and television, and close your office or work area door.
Putting up a sign telling everyone in your household that you’re working is a bit hokey but if it works; go with it!
If you absolutely have an important interruption; keep it short and return to your list as soon as possible.
- Prepare a schedule for returning e-mails and phone calls.
If you do a lot of phone business in your home office, set a time that you will accept return phone calls, and record it in your voice mail reply.
When you leave someone a message, be sure to advise the party when you are available for them to return the call.
This virtually eliminates the phone tag scenario that does nothing but waste time.
You won’t believe the extra time you have available when you schedule calls and stick to the regimen.
Set yourself two blocks of time daily, to read and reply to emails. Work with your auto responder the same way.
- Schedule Work Breaks, Or Time Outs.
Give yourself a time out during the day.
Not even workaholics can run the whole day without a break from mental fatigue, and nerve tension.
Take a deep breath. Stretch your legs. Take a walk to lunch, and reward yourself for a job well done.
You’ll find you get more accomplished when you take break, than when you work through the day without one.
You’ll make fewer mistakes, especially if you’re in front of a computer screen most of the day.
- Stay With Your Program.
When you made you list of “must dos” for the day, make sure you finish.
Time management tips are great if you follow through with them. We all have different approaches to getting work done, and that’s fine as long as you finish what you initiate.
Remember, you got this far in your business by working your way. Keep it up.
It’s easy to stray from your program when you begin to achieve a bit of success.
Be cautious that you don’t take for granted what you worked so hard to achieve. Stay with your program.
Procrastination is the bane of any home based business.
Even though the best laid plans sometimes go awry; when you have a plan that works for you, stick with it.
Remember, you can be your own worst enemy, or your best employer, with a work at home business.
If you use these time management tips, you will definitely get more work accomplished faster.
