Many shutterbugs these days take advantage of their talent and make money online selling stock photos to companies for a commission.

camera-1Stock photos are photographs that are used commercially, and are available to a business for purchase or rent. Stock photos are usually available from online image banks for a fee.

Almost everywhere you look these days, somebody is taking non stop pictures with either a digital camera, or their cell phone.

If you happen to fall into this category, and are one of those shutterbugs who never tires of taking pictures; you can definitely make money online selling stock photos to these image banks.

Becoming a stock photographer is a great way to turn your passion into profits!

To make money online selling stock photos, you can allow a company to use your pictures in return for receiving a flat fee for each photo that is accepted.   Or as an alternate, you can receive a commission on each download of your photograph that the company uses.

There are stock photography companies that offer paid memberships to customers in the graphics industry, or to photographers.

The membership fee gives each member a fixed number of “credits” that they can use, to purchase the pictures they need, for a specific job or project.  Some stock photo companies provide forums, where their member designers can ask for a specific photograph they need to complete their project.

For a “shutterbug” this is the perfect scenario.   Because, when you know exactly what the designers are looking for, you’ll be able to submit a photograph that will fill their requirement, and get paid much more money for the stock photo.

Here is a partial list of stock photo companies you can check out, if you plan to make money online selling stock photos.

  • Shutterstock.com
  • FotoSearch.com
  • iStockPhoto.com

If you plan to make money online selling stock photos; each of the above sites has it’s own features, pros, and cons, and all of them rank highly.
